Breast Cancer Survivorship Foundation names new community board member

Tyson’s Corner, VA – Breast Cancer Survivorship Foundation (BCSF) a 501 (c3) non-profit organization that focuses on supporting women of color with breast health education and support.  Today we announce the appointment of Lisa T. Lewis and Monique Brown Baker, who bring extensive knowledge and skills to help advance the goal of the Foundation to reach over 1000 women of color in 2024 with support and education.

Lisa T. Lewis, MBA, MPH, CHES is a health education and community engagement professional with global leadership and engagement experience within the healthcare industry.  She is an advocate for health equity and the improvement of global public health for underrepresented populations.

“I am honored to be a part of a diverse and dynamic team of community and business leaders who are in the trenches and laser focused on educating women of color about breast health, the importance of early detection and when diagnosed, ensuring a support system for which BCSF will help them thrive and survive via education and knowledge.  We know that early detection is key to survival and debunking the myths with culturally relevant practices, community support and education is critical.  Fundamental tenants of trust and knowledge delivered by those in and from the community inherently spurs a “nudge” towards self-empowerment and action for Black and Latino women who are diagnosed with breast cancer”.
