Breast Cancer Survivorship Foundation’s (BCSF) Executive Director and Public Affairs Intern to be honored by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Northern Virginia

On March 9th, Dr. Kenyatta Lucas, Executive Director, and Ms. Zari Scott will receive distinguished Ebone Image Awards at the 31st Annual Awards Luncheon for their contributions to the community in Health/Medicine.

Kenyatta Lucas, PhD is the Executive Director of the Breast Cancer Survivorship Foundation where she directs foundation strategy and operations.

BCSF’s Founder and CEO, Carmen Brown Marshall stated that “Dr. Lucas is committed to making sure all brown girls have access to STEM, mentors, and support to fully realize their potential.  She has brought that passion to the clarion call to educate Black women on the importance of getting quality care when seeking personalized screenings for breast heath!”

Ms. Zari Scott, is a senior at American University majoring in broadcast journalism.  She has worked alongside Kenyatta since June 2023 and she is the Public Relations and Social Media Intern for the BCSF.  

Carmen Brown Marshall said, “Zari’s commitment to being a leader by making a difference in the lives of others goes back to her childhood when her best friend’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Zari interns with us, by using her invaluable Broadcast Journalism talents to tell our breast cancer survivor stories and to bring the visibility to the importance of diversity and inclusion in healthcare.” 

The NCBW 100 “Sisterhood Luncheon:  A Hat and Glove Affair” 31st Annual Awards luncheon will be held at the Army Navy Country Club located at 1700 Army Navy Drive in Arlington, VA 22209 on March 9, 2024.
